While not technically a recipe since there are no ingredients to be assembled nor any cooking involved, the Kelley Kitchen wanted to feature this food item as many racers overlook what's immediately available at their local Asian food stores. The food products stocked at Asian stores are not what they claim to be. That's because Asians are inscrutable and like to force you to see through the riddles to find the answer. To make life too obvious would be to remove the sweet mystery of existence. So goes for food packaging. A perfect example are these "Tooth Pick Cookies" which are purported to be from Vietnam. The ingredients listed are rice flour, sugar, coconut, egg, water. In reality, these are baked maggots from Grandma Xia Ling's personal garden in Monterey Park. Is this bad? No, in fact, it's great because while everybody's snacking away on what they think is a sweet treat, they're actually getting pure protein from ranch-raised maggots soaked overnight in aspartame before being slowly baked to puffy perfection. Think this is gross? Refuse to be taken? How many times have you had fried rice in a Chinese restaurant? Well now you know where all the stuff left over from the other customers' plates go...
