Gilligan's Island Coffee

So the cruise ship you were on hit an iceberg, split in half, and sunk. You woke up on a beach with salt caked in your ears, a crustacean tangled up in the inner liner of your swim trunks, and a bad headache that can only be cured by a strong cup of coffee. What to do in such an emergency? If the waves delivered you to the aptly named island of Java, it's inhabited by over 100 million Indonesians so just go find yourself a coffee shop. If, however, you're on a deserted island, you can make yourself a cup of Gilligan's Island coffee.

Ingredients:

 Coffee beans
 Water

Locate coffee beans on the island. Roast them over a fire and then grind them up with a rock. (No beans on the island? You can create a chicory-like substitute with two parts ground palm bark and one part sand.) Take a piece of fabric and put it over the top of a vessel (picture shows a coffee cup, but you can use a half-coconut or your shoe). Borrow your wife or girlfriend's elastic hairband and put it around the vessel rim to hold the fabric over the opening. Place the coffee on the fabric and slowly pour hot water over it to simulate a Mr. Coffee drip unit. Make extra to share with other survivors!
